It is with great sadness that I’m writing to share with you that our Housewares Chair, Al Ross, passed away Thursday, July 2nd surrounded by family and friends. We only learned recently of his illness and his good friend shared with us that it had been a whirlwind since he got the diagnosis just five weeks before.
He was a one-of-a-kind teacher, mentor, and friend and he could often be found sitting at the Alexandria Pastry Café reading the paper, or talking about going to Duke where he was an active alum. He was also very proud of working with the ALIVE! Housewares program as part of his recent retirement.
We are waiting for news on when services will be held at Fairlington United Methodist Church and will share that when it is available. His friends are directing donations in his memory to ALIVE!.
