Volunteers Needed for the Furniture Program and September Events
We have the first two weekends under our belts for the ALIVE! Furniture Program and we need your help!
Our highest priority need is for September 24th, when volunteers collect furniture donated by city residents and deliver these items to our neighbors in need every week.
We’d love to put together a schedule for the rest of the year showing which congregations are volunteering to collect donated items. If your congregation would like to reserve a weekend or be matched up with another congregation’s weekend please let us know by contacting ALIVE! volunteer manager, Xiomara Hernandez, at xhernandez@alive-inc.org, or 703-548-9255.

ALIVE!’s Board President, Mary Eileen Dixon, joined representatives from the city, ACPS, and community members last week to witness the transfer of the Winkler Botanical Preserve to NOVA Parks.
Just a few blocks aways from William Ramsay Elementary School at 5400 Roanoke Ave, these 44 acres will continued to be preserved as an urban oasis for our entire community to enjoy.
Thanks to the generous funding provided by the Winkler Organization we look forward to seeing the expanded education opportunities for everyone to enjoy these natural spaces, and we are grateful to the Winkler Organization for also providing ALIVE! with a $100,000 grant to support Alexandrians who live along the Beauregard Corridor- including two monthly distributions at William Ramsey Recreation Center.
